Great to know, Mary Jo! Thanks for the update. L. squamigera foliage is now coming on strong here in Zone 6 with about 3" of growth. New batches I planted last fall appear to be about 2 weeks behind; a few of these are just now poking up foliage. It's important for gardeners to note that Lycoris don't lose their roots when they go dormant in summer, so, if one buys a dormant bulb with no roots, these can take a season to re-establish, somethimes not even pushing up foliage. They don't like to lose their roots. That said, they sure are worth the wait, IMHO. Last year was a re-establishment year for Bulbmeister.COM Lycoris since the nursery was moved the fall before. I'm glad we are past that so we can start getting some good bloom in the summer/fall. For some reason, my L. aurea bloomed very well last fall, though. Maybe it is because they were the first to be replanted with less time out of the ground. |
