I have not grown these before and was excited to get three bulbs from Bulbmeister. Unfortunately I left them for a few days due to other concerns and one started sprouting. I put them in a pot (serious vole and/or mice problem here, is Lycoris resistant?)and they seem fine. Looking forward to the blooms in a few years once I have them in a permanent bed at my new home.

Kathy:

Your bulbs should do fine. Any leaves sprouting from the Lycoris radiata should be above the soil surface. you probably noticed some leaf tips on the Lycoris squamigera, but these need to be just below the soil surface. L. radiata would normally begin leafing out mid- late October and stay in leaf through June. L. squamigera will send up leaves in late February and stay in leaf through June, too.
