Foliage of Tulipa gregii began surfacing a couple weeks ago in the nursery. They are just now beginning to take off. T. clusiana is beginning with some activity, now. |

T. gregii were in full bloom by the end of the first week of April. T. clusiana var. 'Chrysantha' was in full bloom a few days later. They are both finished now, blooms lasting a couple of weeks. Pictures will be available soon. |

Here in USDA Zone 6b, I was most impressed this year with Tulipa marjolettii (images in the gallery). It starts out creamy yellow with reddened petal margins, then slowly fades to an off-white during the two week bloom period. I really liked T. orphanidea var. flava, too, which opened up with a boring, to me, green cast, but aged into something quite spectacular in color. |
