Well, the flower show is pretty good now (cooler, wetter weather), however, the beautiful leaves are starting to show (which signals an end to the flowers very soon) for cyclamen neapolitanum/hederacifolium. Cyclamen purpurascens just finished a summer long display of purple flowers...none of which last a long time in a hot dry environment (like mine). Cyclamen coum is beginning to show leaves, but probably won't open flowers till March. Cyclamen graecum has yet to put in appearance...lets hope it lived through it's first year. If you've never tried hardy cyclamen, you really should give them a whirl...they're worth it. Best tip: part shade and planted in somewhat thirsty tree roots (to prevent winter overwatering), though in a SW climate, that means lots of watering when it's not winter |
