Here in Northwest Arkansas, Zone 6b, Squamigera are finishing their two week display of bloom for the year. In all honesty, these are my least favorite of the Lycoris, but I find them still to be very beautiful. It was a very good season for bloom, so I hope to see other species doing well around the area this year. I have had a L. sprengeri, L. Xrosea, a hybrid, and one labeled as L. radiata var. pumila also bloom for me in pots. The reason I say "labeled as..." for the Radiata is because I expected it to be bright red, but it was this beautiful rosey-salmon with blue in the tepal (petal) tips. Truly awesome! But I'm afraid it's mislabeled. |
